History of St. Mary’s

Located in Independence, Mo., St. Mary’s High School was a co-educational Catholic high school in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. It was established in 1853 and remained the home of the Trojans until its closure in 2013.

Trojan Legacy Continues

The Trojan spirit lives on at SMA through the following traditions:

  • The blue color in the logo represents St. Mary’s

  • The 5′ statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the front entrance of St. Mary’s is prominently placed in the Academic Office of SMA

  • St. Mary’s memorabilia and keepsakes are proudly displayed through the school

  • The May Crowning and rose ceremony at Graduation take place each May

  • The Guardian community includes many St. Mary’s alumni who are faculty, parents and donors

Reunions
