Richard graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2001 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design and Illustration. While in school, Richard freelanced for a number of magazines and design firms. Soon after graduation, he signed with a fine arts and illustration representative; that same year he also joined the staff of AOHS as an Art Instructor. Over the course of the last 16 years at AOHS, Richard has developed a passion for helping students find and develop their artistic abilities. Most summers he paints sets with the crew at New Theater Restaurant. Between teaching and commissioned artwork, he has a full schedule, but in his spare time he studies ancient history, creates personal artwork, and takes care of his two dogs Coco and Mija. Richard is excited to start building the art curriculum for the community at St. Michael the Archangel.
