Lessons and Carols tells the story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Christ in nine bible readings with the singing of Christmas carols and hymns. The Service begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus at SMA.

Join us for our third Encounter of the year, for a night of praise and worship music, Eucharistic Adoration, a student witness, and Confession. Join us as we experience Christ in the sacrament of the Eucharist, while delving into the beauty of Advent. There will be refreshments after Benediction for a brief social. The evening will begin at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 11.
All are welcome (students, families, friends, etc). We look forward to praying with you and for our school community. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Dempsey (rdempsey@smacatholic.org).

Yesterday, we had the Junior Class Mass. The Juniors received their class rings, which Father Sappington blessed during the Mass. It was a joyous celebration shared with family and friends amongst the SMA community.

Yesterday, SMA was highlighted at the annual Lee's Summit Rotary Club Community Service Luncheon along with five other Lee's Summit schools. St. Michael students were invited to attend the event, spoke about our community service efforts, and took a photo with Mayor Bill Baird. We are thankful for the opportunity to share about our service and look forward to continuing to serve others in our community!

Today one of our SMA students joined the Catholic Church during All School Mass! Carson Lindstrom, senior, received the sacraments of Confession and First Holy Communion. His fellow Guardian, Nick DeVoss, sponsored him. Carson joins a growing number of SMA students who have received the sacrament of Confirmation while at St. Michael. We thank God for the continual work he has done in our school, especially in the spiritual lives of our students!

Good luck to our cross country team as they compete in the state final today! Fr. Sappington sent them off with a blessing yesterday as they left SMA for Gans Creek. St. Michael the Archangel pray for us. #GuardUp

This week, chemistry students have been conducting flame tests on various metal salts. This lab reinforces the concepts of light emissions describe by Niels Bohr. The specific color spectrum emitted by each metal is related to the electrons becoming "excited" by the flame and then when they fall back to their ground state the color is produced. It's amazing to see God's creation in action!

At Saint Michael Catholic High School, we celebrated Día de los Muertos with a special blessing of the ofrenda—a traditional altar honoring loved ones who have passed. This event, rooted in Mexican heritage and Catholic faith, is a joyful remembrance of family and friends who are no longer with us.
Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) takes place on November 1st and 2nd, blending ancient Aztec traditions with Catholic beliefs. It’s a time to celebrate eternal life and remember that, in faith, our loved ones remain spiritually close. Our ofrenda, adorned with candles, marigolds, and photos, symbolizes our connection with those who have passed, offering light, water, and prayers for their journey.
Through this meaningful celebration, our Hispanic Honor Society at SMA joins together in honoring family and friends, guided by love, memory, and hope in eternal life.

With election day being tomorrow there is no better day to join us in our weekly Tuesday rosary. We will start after the 7:45 a.m. Mass (approximately 8:10 a.m.) in the St. Michael chapel. If you can't make it we welcome you to join us in the devotion from wherever you are.
When you do so, please join us in the following prayer:
Mary, Our Lady of Victory,
Through your intercession, God granted victory at the Battle of Lepanto.
Be with us in our daily battle against evil and sin in our own lives,
That we may strive joyfully to do God’s will for us.
Intercede for St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School,
That we may achieve our mission as God’s brave and humble disciples.
Mary, Our Lady of Victory, pray for us.
St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us.
